I was impressed by the animated short film Sanjay’s Super Team made by Pixar. I think this is the first time when Disney-Pixar produces a short about spirituality.
Inspired by the childhood of the director Sanjay Patel, Sanjay’s Super Team speaks about the conflict between generations: the child who wants to see cartoons on TV, a cultural product of globalization, bothers his father praying to gods. Eventually his father turn off the TV and invites him to pray together. During religious meditation, the child imagines gods as superheroes and at the endv of it, the child draws superheroes and gods representing the forces of good.
I am convinced that many will understand the message of this animation. In every corner of the world, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan or other countries, there is this culture that considered harmful cartoons in their homes through the small screen. The bigots feel threatened by this product of globalization. They believe that a cartoon will negatively influence the child’s education.
Sanjay’s Super Team is broadcast to cinema, at the opening of animated feature film The Good Dinosaur.
