The seventh Anim’est edition brings to the Bucharest audience the most shameless surprise. Thrills from Creepy Animation Night have reached their fourth edition, but 2012 introduces a special event for the first time: The Night of the Animated Bad Taste. On October 6, from 23:00, one delicious kitsch and erotic night awaits the most uninhibited fans of animation, only at Patria Cinema.
Those who dare to leave decency and elitist assertions at the door will get a few hours that definitely awake some senses and tastes. The Night of the Animated Bad Taste is a road show initiated by HAFF (Holland Animation Film Festival), the Dutch film critic Jan Doense, expert in the horror and the trash, founder and organizer of the Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival and collectionneur par excellence Michael Helmerhorst , with a full schedule of trailers or excerpts from the darkest corners of global cinema, rare, archive films, otherwise impossible to see on the big screens, many politically incorrect, unacceptable, extravagant, outrageous, scandalous.
From the beginning of porn cinema to cartoons, underground films or commercial stereotypes, trailers, fantasy or artsy ambition failed attempts, re-animated Beatles videos in a Hanna & Barbera style, the Soviet version of Goofy, Captain America or Popeye as response to „global disneyfication”, Popeye facing the Japanese enemy in ’40s anti-propaganda clips or failed commercials to famous junk food products in the ’30s: this collection of ambigous films that goes through all the techniques and genres, revealing hand drawn, puppet and computer animations, is inviting you to wonder what bad taste really means.
The program also includes short clips by Michael Helmerhost who will share details on some of the animations presented.
The event is organized with the support of the Netherlands Embassy in Romania.
