„Le Taxidermiste” by Paulin Cointot, Dorianne Fibleuil, Antoine Robert and Maud Sertour

What does the animation mean for you?

Animation is a unique way to combine two of our passions: drawing and cinema.

From whom did you learn animation?

We learnt animation at Supinfocom Arles, an animation school based in the south of France.

What projects have you worked on?

We all worked on short films for the collection “Le Laboratoire d’Images” (season 1) for the French TV channel Canal+. It is a collaboration between Illustrators and young directors: lelaboratoiredimages.com.

Maud worked on L’inventeur, Dorianne on Après Moi, Paulin on Modern Spleen & Evasion, and Antoine on Après Moi & Evasion.

How would you describe Le Taxidermiste?

Le Taxidermiste emphasizes embarrassing situations to show what is touching and funny in it.

The film is anchored in a kind of exaggerated reality, it’s an attempt to show rustic people dealing with a sensitive moment of life in a weird but positive way.

What is the message of the film?

There’s no particular message in it. But it’s about confronting two universes dealing with death all day long. We also wanted to show we can find tenderness and poetry in the most awkward or sad situations.

What kind of animated films do you like?

It’s tricky to answer this question as a group… but we have in common a love for audacious films, in the graphics, the script or both. Some belgian or english directors do it very well.

What future projects do you have?

At the moment we don’t have any projects, but if we have the opportunity to make another film we would consider it seriously.

What would you like to do in life that you couldn’t do it because of lack of time, resources, etc..?

We would give up working for advertising or tv and we would certainly do our own films!

Developing a long feature would be the dream coming true.
